Friendly Exam Stress Support
Learn a range of techniques to help tackle the exam nerves and anxieties that get in the way of you achieving your potential
In school or online support sessions.
you youLet’s face it, school can be stressful and exams can feel very scary indeed for many. Some students experience normal nervousness however others go into fight, flight, freeze. They may catastrophise and ruminate to such an extent that real physical symptoms appear. This can be nausea, stomach cramps, shaking and a whole range of other experiences associated with stress and anxiety.
Somewhat frustratingly, when the body does this, our pre frontal cortex and executive functioning shuts down and we literally cannot think – getting in the way of academic performance in exams and creating a vicious cycle that is hard to break out of.
Kind Mind offers a range of friendly exam stress support sessions to help you manage overthinking, calm the nervous system and guide you to achieving success.
In-school support
Large group sessions for whole year groups
These are fully interactive sessions with students sitting in the exam hall behind exam desks [intentionally so]. The session covers:
- sleep
- social media and screen time
- breathing techniques
- reframing negative thought patterns
- catastrophising
- goals: expectation vs aspiration
Workbooks are provided. Session length: 1-1.5 hours.
Fees vary according to group size and your schools’ needs, however I would normally charge £150 for a half day. There are no travel charges for Kent schools. Workbook print would need to be produced in school where large numbers are involved.
Small group or whole class mindfulness training: .b curriculum
These sessions work best if they are twice weekly. This is because there is less of a break to forget the tools delivered, we build momentum and the skills are learned at a deeper level. However, if this is not possible, weekly sessions can be arranged. Sessions cover:
- what is Mindfulness?
- learning to focus our attention
- centering attention when it wanders
- how worry works
- being in the present moment
- gratitude
- taking in the good
- sitting with discomfort and learming that it passes
An online practice portal accompanies the sessions.
I have delivered this course to whole tutor groups as part of their PSHE programme as well as much smaller focus groups. This course is also an excellent tool for Year 6/7 transition, giving students life skills for managing stress.
Session length: 40 mins each x 10 sessions in total.
Fees vary according to group size and your schools’ needs, however I would normally charge a flat fee of £800 for delivering the whole course to one group of students.
